Ok....I know this is not a very important topic for a first post but I feel I need to get some things off my chest about the madness and confusion over last night's events. Not sure how many of you actually watch "The Bachelor" so I will give a brief summary of what happened. Most of you probably know the premise of the show, where a bachelor meets 25 "beautiful" women and narrows the field down until there are only 2 left to choose from. The final two meet his family and then he makes his final choice. Well, last night on the show Bachelor Jason Mesnik chose and proposed to Melissa and sent Molly home. Then on the "After the Final Rose..part 1", which was taped with no audience, he had changed his mind, broke things off with Melissa and asked Molly for another shot which she agreed to. Now I have read a lot of posts today on many different forums with people bashing Jason calling him a jerk, dork, crybaby, jacka.., and many other names. They have also criticized Molly for taking him back and locking lips with him right after Melissa is sent back home seemingly very upset. People have expressed their compassion and pity for Melissa for being "blindsided" with all this on National TV. While I can understand where all of these people are coming from, I want to address a few issues.
1.) People have been saying "he proposed to Melissa at 9:57 and then at 10:05 he is breaking up with her". To me, that seems like people are forgetting that the final show when he proposed to her and the "After the Final Rose were taped almost 2 months apart. Two months, I feel, is enough time (off camera and away from all the fantasy fairy tale surroundings) for one or both of them to know in their heart if they believe it will work out or not. You can learn a lot about someone in 2 months.
2.) I do not buy in into the fact that Melissa was "completely" blindsided by the events taking place. There were some things I noticed when she came out onto the set of the show last night that seemed like obvious clues to me that she knew more about what was going on than we, the viewers were led to believe. First, I am pretty sure she was not wearing the engagament ring when she walked out. Then when she and Jason were "reunited" with one another, she never once tried to kiss him. They only hugged, and she didn't even look like she wanted to do that, like she was being forced. Third, when she sat down, she hardly looked at Jason. She didn't try to hold his hand like a blushing bride-to-be who "thought everything was perfect" (her words). All those things were signs -to me - that she knew something.
Plus Jason had said many times that they had talked about how things seemed different during the 3 months they had been together. My theory (and it may not be correct) is that they had already talked about breaking things off or already had and because of being bound by contracts - which noone knows the terms of excpet the people involved with the show- they were told to make it look like the break-up was last minute and unexpected (on Melissa's part) and they were told to make it look as real as they could for the viewers.
3.) Since I think Jason and Melissa had already broken up before this taping, I also think he and Molly had already been talking or dating again. I say this because of how comfortable they felt being affectionate to one another (her hand on his knee) and the passionate lip locking they did. I may be wrong but I don't think anyone in their right mind could act like that knowing that someone's heart had just been "unexpectedly" broken minutes before.
We have to remember this show is edited to pieces before we ever see previews or actual episodes. We have no idea what happens when the cameras aren't rolling. The girls could actually get more time with the bachelor than what we see. They EDIT EVERYTHING!! Don't get me wrong. I am upset with Jason. I don't care whose idea it was or if he was to told this because of his signed contract. I would loved to have seen headlines that said ABC told him he had to do this and he refused and said they could sue him for any violation of his contract because he wasn't going along with their charades.
Well anyway I am stepping down off my soap box about this topic. Just needed to vent. I am sorry if I have stolen minutes of your life you can't get back. If I have, I really appreciate that you even read this post, so THANK YOU!
